SparX

I redesigned SparX end-to-end: iPhone and iPad staging flows, field onboarding, and the scale pivot from QR setup to door scanning.

What we were building

SparX let prospects walk into an empty apartment and see it fully staged in AR, in real time.

Users could switch profiles for different lifestyles (family, students, single + workspace), change furniture style, and understand how the same floor plan could function in different ways.

My role

I came in to redesign the entire app experience, first for iPad and then for iPhone, so the flow worked in the field and not only in demos.

The core challenge was speed: realtors had roughly five minutes, often first-time use, and still needed to run the full experience confidently.

  • Onboarding from app open to staging in minutes
  • Clear profile switching and furniture controls while walking
  • Screenshot and shortlist flow for post-tour follow-up
  • UX tuned for diverse floor plans, lighting conditions, and multi-room continuity

Scale breakthrough: QR to door scanning

Early deployments used QR codes per apartment and room anchors. That worked, but operations would not scale because teams had to physically maintain and remap codes across changing inventory.

I pushed a pivot to door scanning so setup became software-driven instead of a daily physical logistics job. It was a hard change, but it unlocked rollout scalability.

Field rollout

I worked directly on-site in Manhattan and Texas properties, onboarding teams, validating flows, and tuning interaction details against real leasing pressure.

This made the product practical for high-rise and multi-floor contexts where mock units are limited and do not reflect the real apartment view.

Outcome

The final experience made staging more accessible, reduced friction for leasing teams, and helped prospects understand their exact apartment faster.

Public SparX materials reported strong conversion lift and major marketing-cost reductions per staged unit.
